First, Cover the Basics

No matter what you want to accomplish, you have to pass Basic Obedience, and we recommend continuing at least to SubNovice
- Get your Canine Good Citizen certification. USDT offers regular evaluation workshops. Check our Events page
- Exploring other sports, such as Agility and Novice Obedience, and competing in trials will improve your handling and increase your dog's confidence in various settings
Next, Enjoy the Work and Play
- Take Therapy Dog and/or Novice/Intermediate Tricks
- Get certified with Alliance of Therapy Dogs or another widely recognized therapy dog certification program that offers insurance
- Become a Member of USDTC
- Develop public performance skills for your dog and yourself by volunteering with the POP Stars
Hey Now, You're a POP Star!
- Take Advanced/Expert Tricks
- Pursue our R.E.A.D. program
- Perform with the POP Stars
- Become an AKC Canine Ambassador
- Join our POP Committee or any other committee and help USDTC develop more ways to serve our community!
- Share your ideas and chase your dreams!
